Join alexx makes dances for a durational, site-specific performance of

The Other Side of Stillness

as part of Pieter Plays the LA River

We dance from 4-6pm in vivid color, without stopping

Event will be held at the Ed Reyes Greenway: Humboldt Street & Ave 19, Lincoln Heights

Street parking, bike or take Metro! 
(Gold Line: Lincoln/Cypress station is a short walk from the park.)

As part of Play the LA River’s year of riverside programming, Pieter Performance Space presents a day of dance and performance at Ed Reyes River Greenway in Lincoln Heights. Pieter is located near the confluence of the LA River and Arroyo Seco, where industrial and residential spaces meet a vibrant urban aquatic landscape. Pieter is commissioning site-responsive choreographed works, improvisations, interactive happenings, and a free community yoga class, to be presented as part of an afternoon of riverside art.

A site-specific FREE Tasty Treat and Beverage Bar will be open for the day. Participants and audience will be invited to bring a non-monetary donation in the form of a tasty treat or non-alcoholic beverage to share.

Harriet Bailey is a Los Angeles based dancer and choreographer with a BA in contemporary dance from London Contemporary Dance School.

Carson Efird Westerlund is a dancing yogini inspired by evolutionary Vinyasa, contemporary dance techniques, Tantra, Ayurveda and her teacher, Shiva Rea, creatress of Prana Vinyasa.

Maya Gingery designs dances, as performative theater, that seek to activate reflection and change in spaces, environments and people. Her work has been presented in numerous venues, sites and environments in LA and abroad and in publications such Native Strategies.

Terrance Luke Johnson has been improvising in Los Angeles since 1970 and currently works in the dance and performance art worlds.

Margaret Laurena Kemp, Writer and Multimedia Artist. Her work explores mythical and actual relationships between land, race, gender and water. This work features music, dance and spoken word.

Sarah Leddy is a Los Angeles-based dancer, choreographer, and educator.

Rebeca Hernandez is an LA-based choreographer; her choreographic process includes site-specific work, music and dance improvisation and collaborations with visual and performance artists.www.rebecahernandezdance.com

Alexx Shilling | alexx makes dances creates live and filmic dancescapes that invigorate memory and enliven sites as they are inhabited by the body.
