Fully saturated with images and sensations of one day in southern New Mexico: fiberoptics attached to plates to become galaxy mappers; falling down the mountain into Alamogordo; Holloman AFB and the White Sands Missile Test site; listening to Arthur on the ocarina as Q and I scaled the soft white dunes; searching for petroglyphs while fighter jets flew overhead and explosions rocked the Earth; a full, fat, orange moon popping up from the horizon as we headed north, rising, rising, rising.

an overnight with FIELDSHIFT | FURTHER at Apache Point Observatory, time spent with galaxy mappers plugging fiberoptic cable each morning into carefully arranged openings, ready to for proton exposure and reception.

two days later in the Galisteo arroyo, the galaxy map given to us by Dmitry became a sun shield boomeranging bright light from its disc/body/head perched against the rocks. far from the bombing ranges of White Sands and Holloman, explosions and sonic booms still raged in the distance from ranges unknown and too close, the birds are unfazed.

body map: VULTURE

knees dug into the wet clay where thorns make themselves known once you are tucked in

headpiece on head tilted downward top of the head becomes a face, beak pointing demonstratively

below, a gravesite

Vulture can make her wingspan double triple extend across the Earth

as breath accelerates and penetrates the ground, piercing through it with eyes, talons, blood-full fingers

a tilt of the beak and a new spot is discovered

to descend upon

to tower to hover over

to rage/mourn for
