Saturday 12/5 at 5:00 pm (PST)

with new works by the Gold Collective & Taso Papadakis, and guest artists Laurel Jenkins, Keith Johnson, Justin Morris & Steve Rosa, and d.v. wickremesinghe. Taking advantage of the connections we’ve learned to make online through quarantine, this virtual dance event will include and live interactive conversations with artists and audience.

The Gold Series is an annual experimental dance event curated by Gold Collective, bringing together performances that address ever-changing ideas and themes of gold. What is gold now? Today? This year, Gold Series No. 3, produced with Taso Papadakis, considers what we find most valuable right now: the gold we find at home, resting within, at the bottom of our being, alone together, engaging in the world to repair and right the wrongs, even as balance becomes more difficult to maintain.

In this challenging year we recognize the mischievous double entendre gold presents, embracing ideas of value and violence, excellence and falsehood, potential and power, digging for treasure, and going for the gold in our lives and work today.

The evening is comprised of five dance works and conversations with the artists: EXPANDED BODY by Laurel Jenkins, Boat by Keith Johnson, a collaboration by Justin Morris and Steve Rosa, a live stream performance of “in the upper room” by d.v. wickremesinghe, and a new gold collective film by Taso Papadakis and alexx shilling with Clark, Leddy, McDowell, and Miramontes.
