Choreographer Alexx Shilling presents the seeds of a new dance piece made in response to her travels through Yiddishland in Summer 2017. At PAM, Shilling and performers Madison Clark and Daniel Miramontes have been practicing giving form to the memories of a topography that remembers and knows.

Artistic director, choreographer, & filmmaker Alexx Shilling is fully committed to the infinite investigation of movement and its potential to uncover alternative narratives and allow us to remember. Her original choreography and experimental films have been presented nationally and internationally, through residencies at the Millay Colony and Ebenbökhaus / Jewish Museum in Munich, and with generous support from institutions including Dance Films Association, CCI, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and CHIME both as Artistic Director of alexx makes dances and ann and alexx make dances (with Ann Robideaux). In Los Angeles, she has been collaborating as a performer with Victoria Marks since 2010, and most recently with Ros Warby, Laurel Jenkins, Alison D’Amato and Nickels Sunshine. This year, Alexx was an artist-in-residence with Yiddishkayt’s Helix Project and a collaborating artist as part of the SIJCC’s Culture Lab Series.
